Start Building Your Own Cat Tree

Building your cat his or her own cat tree can be a lot of fun, because there are many different designs you could use. Like for instance the two-story, three-story or five-story cat condominium. However, let us start with the smallest one. When starting to build the two-story cat condominium, you will need a few items.

Before starting this project, you will need a hammer, drill, jigsaw and a hand saw. You will also need three 2 x 4′s and two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood and they need to be 24 x 24 inches long. You will also need a tape measure, and a speed square.

Now that you have all of the tools that you need, you can begin to build your cat tree. First, you will need to use your skill saw to cut a 12 x 12 inch square out one piece of plywood, this is going to be the top of your cat tree.

After, that you will need to measure eight pieces of 2 x 4 that is going to be 12 inches long, these two pieces of 2 x 4 need to be, nailed together. For these will be the legs of your cat condominium. The top will then be, nailed to the legs of the cat tree, now you may need someone to help you with this part of building the cat condominium.

Now you are going to need to turn the cat tree upside down with the open part on the ground so you can nail the bottom piece of plywood on the bottom. Then you will need two more pieces of 2 x 4 cut at 6 inches long, and this is going to be, nailed to the 12 x 12 inch piece of plywood you cut out a while ago.

This is going to be a pedestal that your cat will be able to jump on to get on top of the cat tree to lay down. Now center this close to the middle of the legs of your cat condominium. After, everything has been, nailed down you can turn your cat tree back up right and carpet every piece of wood, that way your furry feline does not get any splinters.

In addition, you could take a red Christmas ball ornament, tie it to a bootlace, hang it on the cat tree house, and watch him or her go. This kitty cat house is going to be well, used by your cat on a daily basis. Therefore, you want it to be, built sturdy enough to hold a twelve-pound weight or it could fall over and injure your cat.
